Migori, Kenya: More than 200
learners of Ranen Adventist schools in
Awendo, Migori County spent the
night in the cold after fire razed down
their dormitories. Head teacher Peter
Owari said property worth more than
Sh10 million was destroyed in inferno.
"The fire started at around 8pm, a few
minutes after learners had all gone for
their evening preps in their
classrooms. It is suspected to have
started from the dormitory that
houses primary school boys before
spreading to other halls," said Mr
Owari.
Police in Awendo said they are
investigating the incidences that may
have built-up to the inferno.
"We cannot rule out allegations that
there was someone who may have
started the fire . It is too early to
speculate," said Awendo OCPD Daniel
Kinyua.
